This has been down to a) me being lazy and b) not happy with the layout of the blog, which feeds nicely back to a)!<br />
<br />
However, today I was having a look at the standard templates, to spur me once more to change the site and hopefully get the creative juices following again, but none of them took my fancy! So I thought about looking for third party templates, or at the very least modifying one, or possibly designing my own. Then I discovered<a href="http://www.google.com/support/blogger/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=176245"> this page</a> on the Blogger Help site and thought 'perfect I'll have a shot of that.' Then couldn't find the option in my blog settings, or any reference on how you get to the options to change to the Blogger Template Designer. I then tried the Dashboard and missed the setting completely on at least three different occasions! It is there, it's just not that obvious, at least to me. What you need to do is select <a href="http://draft.blogger.com/home">Blogger in Draft</a> then click on Layout and there is the Template Designer. 2 minutes later I had this new template up and running.<br />
<br />
Now if only I could get the hobby stuff on the same track...Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-26899567634844575232009-07-13T08:58:00.004+01:002009-07-26T22:40:16.359+01:00Forth coming attractionsWell as you can tell I haven't been very busy on the blog front for at least awhile! However I did manage to get time last night to change the template, something I have been meaning to do for a long time. The template is a very slightly modified version of <a href="http://www.bloggertricks.com/2008/06/wonderful-blogger-template-connexion.html">Connexion</a> from <a href="http://www.bloggertricks.com/">www.bloggertricks.com</a> if you haven't had a look at other Blogger templates other than the Google ones I throughly recommend having a look. The title graphic I can't really take any credit for, it's the results of me following a nice tutorial on flame text in Paint Shop Pro! If your interested you can find it <a href="http://www.cienpsp.com/flame.php">here</a>. This new template has highlighted just how bad my photography and image layout is in the earlier posts, if I get the motivation I will go back through them and tidy them up.<br /><br />Just to prove that I haven't been completely lacking in any hobby stuff, here are couple of previews of models that I have been working on. Both have stories attached and they will be the subject of my next posts. Enjoy.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkgjA4RvCEDhSYCQC3scrSfybJ2g0oc-k3QqbxU2_xWG4aZvtSPP5lP49mWZetMa-L9zTNsZv1W9yWNJXMKQKtiN-Jes_AlMsACp8eHDQ9B54Io7LLoV3j33Lx02VK9N2wkxHfGTSdsMS8/s1600-h/FireEatersSGT.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 230px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkgjA4RvCEDhSYCQC3scrSfybJ2g0oc-k3QqbxU2_xWG4aZvtSPP5lP49mWZetMa-L9zTNsZv1W9yWNJXMKQKtiN-Jes_AlMsACp8eHDQ9B54Io7LLoV3j33Lx02VK9N2wkxHfGTSdsMS8/s320/FireEatersSGT.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357855012217305234" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieu_zX4ktnm2pRinb6wtTZLDorldGgyCpYx6zwyHUDBXpNvz3PvmNzW3v6J4ttYmU3pkP_A0Qe9-ewxs4G2Xt4fwXC5LqTGCH3tcTvB0Fw6Sz89gfDmoGIxNMsCmXl92V-wfottl2HVY9Y/s1600-h/FireEatersScoutRhino.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 170px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieu_zX4ktnm2pRinb6wtTZLDorldGgyCpYx6zwyHUDBXpNvz3PvmNzW3v6J4ttYmU3pkP_A0Qe9-ewxs4G2Xt4fwXC5LqTGCH3tcTvB0Fw6Sz89gfDmoGIxNMsCmXl92V-wfottl2HVY9Y/s320/FireEatersScoutRhino.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5357855020865198386" border="0" /></a>Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-78611785074478678542009-02-15T23:23:00.008+00:002009-02-15T23:46:16.968+00:00Assault Cannon Razorback - Concept 'C' Mock Up<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8zTaBgZn_6oj8U4sP5YeoyBibv_NToH1ZQIYNem19-EsCLMhu6MOamXGYErnYr_U5yPWhJs-irCcz94lxMdY9e1DPlXYEzT8BAF-PmVf9NOWS05Df6H_tGRc3XWGuHIMl61NhodpP5xz1/s1600-h/RB_AC_ObliqueElevationFtR_404x199.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 158px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8zTaBgZn_6oj8U4sP5YeoyBibv_NToH1ZQIYNem19-EsCLMhu6MOamXGYErnYr_U5yPWhJs-irCcz94lxMdY9e1DPlXYEzT8BAF-PmVf9NOWS05Df6H_tGRc3XWGuHIMl61NhodpP5xz1/s320/RB_AC_ObliqueElevationFtR_404x199.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5303169775433855026" border="0" /></a><br />Concept 'C' of my <a href="http://fireeaterschapter.blogspot.com/2009/01/assault-cannon-razorback-scout.html">proposed Razorback designs</a> proved to be the most popular, so I made this mock up to see what additional details could be added and give the vehicle some character. I learned that the most important thing is to make sure the paint is the correct consistancy and to spray from a distance. Now I know these are mentioned in the instructions that came with the airbrush and are also shown on the video that GW did on you tube. However knowing something and experiencing it are quite different.<br /><br />Thankfully I used minatures that could be easily repainted and weren't key to my force, and I now know not to water the paint down so much. I just followed the markings on the spray bottle without considering that the paint was already quite 'runny'. The other mistake I made was spraying from far too close, this did two things, one the paint went on like a thunder storm and two it contain quite alot of the propellent mix. This caused the mixture to freeze, if you've ever played with an airduster you'll know what I mean, and crack the paint when it dried!<br /><br />This also had the unforseen benefit. I was painting a world war 2 British army lorry which had a canvas covered cab, the effect of the paint freezing and then cracking has textured and weathered the canvas as if it had seen a lot of action!<br /><br />More practice required, but I was very impressed with the device itself. Have you guys got any tips or stories of the new Airbrush?Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-33630538981145440502009-01-25T11:10:00.006+00:002009-01-25T11:33:21.527+00:00Assault Cannon Razorback - Scout TransportDue to a few external issues I haven't been able to post this update for a couple of weeks. Note this is not in any particular order:<br /><ul><li>Complete the building and painting of my two tactical squads.</li><li>Build and convert the scout sniper squad.</li><li>Convert my Mk1 Rhino into a dual assault cannon Razorback for the scouts transport.</li><li>Finish the painting of the Mk2 Rhino.</li><li>Build and paint the Land Raider Redeemer.</li><li>Refine and publish the back ground fluff for the Chapter, including it's non-codex organization.</li><li>Learn to paint.<br /></li></ul>That should keep me going for awhile at least if not most of the year!Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-73680460623761963502009-01-03T10:41:00.002+00:002009-01-03T10:54:17.228+00:00Litany of ExcusesOne of my New Year resolutions is to update this blog more regularly and to actually get some painting and gaming done!<br /><br />I have been extremely lax in my updating in the latter half of last year, this was mostly down to being busy at work and just not being in the right frame of mind for painting.<br /><br />However by far the greatest reason for not getting anything done is the addtion of Molly the kitten to the house hold. My house mate decided that he wanted a cat and well he got Molly, who is a lovely black and caramel Tokenese kitten. The unfortunate thing is, like all cats, she is very curious of what goes on in 'her' house and every time I sit down to paint she comes over to help. Such help consists of repositioning the models that are waiting to be painted or are drying, investigating what that stuff is in the paint pots and the ultimate helping me with the paint brush! It is impossible to paint anything when a cat thinks the paint brush is a toy.<br /><br />Anyway enough with the excuses. The new year beckons...Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-55697712814694357942008-08-16T15:10:00.006+01:002008-08-17T00:57:02.626+01:00Good Enough For The BattlefieldHave completed my first Marine! Whilst not a great paint job I do feel it is good enough for battlefield viewing distances. I feel that my method and techniques will improve over the course of painting this tactical squad, painting has always been a secondary consideration for me. Much prefer building and gaming! Anyway tell me what you think of this first one:<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5zSfrKjjSz0kRVtqoXTp2TvqGWavd-QagFc_DhfRO5oUV96YjiJrNdY8gObN2BdQtbs3fZUckE4CwU8xScDRe8BkhkgykUXjUdsMZIE58LV3jA8h2rPf36hiqwnSjGu1jBrjmnQB3fIGs/s1600-h/Front.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5zSfrKjjSz0kRVtqoXTp2TvqGWavd-QagFc_DhfRO5oUV96YjiJrNdY8gObN2BdQtbs3fZUckE4CwU8xScDRe8BkhkgykUXjUdsMZIE58LV3jA8h2rPf36hiqwnSjGu1jBrjmnQB3fIGs/s320/Front.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5235119882129472674" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzcXk6LSsg3QAqgz6yOtsOl-c-v8r_j1XGMnokhw53ewyk2o5um2H7BdCCsiLVoEXImnZPI24qTqvJ3aLeKjT1CBOPf5WTcsg3ydEQZ0oMrIaFOYHH4W7Xwxki1HepmBEBYLzqJOkETBAy/s1600-h/Rear.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzcXk6LSsg3QAqgz6yOtsOl-c-v8r_j1XGMnokhw53ewyk2o5um2H7BdCCsiLVoEXImnZPI24qTqvJ3aLeKjT1CBOPf5WTcsg3ydEQZ0oMrIaFOYHH4W7Xwxki1HepmBEBYLzqJOkETBAy/s200/Rear.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5235120575909239426" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6CSlm1UioDk7uSq0yMPPo-VwqC98R47qej9x51jHlMmQbieQ9s4kQ10x3T3I33o7mWL4gwhsuxLAkIbrZb7B1PwXzoihUfi0y2J2ywHJWa_uCUW_Om49sTdUpn2HFE8n4bIEuu6_j899n/s1600-h/LHS.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6CSlm1UioDk7uSq0yMPPo-VwqC98R47qej9x51jHlMmQbieQ9s4kQ10x3T3I33o7mWL4gwhsuxLAkIbrZb7B1PwXzoihUfi0y2J2ywHJWa_uCUW_Om49sTdUpn2HFE8n4bIEuu6_j899n/s200/LHS.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5235120570594800994" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjncot_uSRMLSJHkxhi6PdmOfHoPkaazLyDEI-XQahZ35_Jr9ffJaHGtXt6dV7GRPq21llyxyfb3_0XPjpP9zrVd8gOiP1X1Ao9CC679gsE14HfFXRlE4t3B-6biP-idQ4f1tcLI6xXmT01/s1600-h/RHS.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjncot_uSRMLSJHkxhi6PdmOfHoPkaazLyDEI-XQahZ35_Jr9ffJaHGtXt6dV7GRPq21llyxyfb3_0XPjpP9zrVd8gOiP1X1Ao9CC679gsE14HfFXRlE4t3B-6biP-idQ4f1tcLI6xXmT01/s200/RHS.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5235120584099702082" border="0" /></a>Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-87723906681873137412008-08-07T22:58:00.006+01:002008-08-08T00:50:24.824+01:00I Had To Pick Orange!<div style="text-align: left;">As some of you may already know my chapter colours are inspired by a colour scheme that I have created in Dawn of War, you can see that post by <a href="http://fireeaterschapter.blogspot.com/2008/07/dawn-of-war.html">clicking here</a>. I have been busy over the last couple of days trying out various different paint schemes and thanks to some good advice from <a href="http://wienas.blogspot.com/">Wienas;</a><br /><br />"<span style="font-style: italic;">I like the orange color scheme. The orange in the Foundations (Macharius Solar Orange)would probably work pretty well for this.</span> <span style="font-style: italic;">Highlight with Blazing Orange, and give in a wash of Devlan Mud, and you should be good to go :)</span>"<br /><br />I have deviated only slightly from that, mainly due to having a test marine already undercoated with Iyanden Darksun from Citadel's Foundation range. Then base coated with Blazing Orange (found the Fiery Orange to be way too bright), a wash of Devlan Mud and then dry brush with Fiery Orange. A few extra details were added with Blood Red and a Baal Red wash. Anyway here are the results, as always click on the link for a larger image.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0ToUQuCBQGgYew28ud0i2JgxvtEbebgL46wwKxWdncKMsa0jmsiXOKmGp24LcllZyDWZe_hSa6HAvy-CmJReassLwzF9pNVGeenBXDKnmKm2XJUBtgqdhEFZQwdSeuLxtLNEmgnAJnlls/s1600-h/07082008008.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0ToUQuCBQGgYew28ud0i2JgxvtEbebgL46wwKxWdncKMsa0jmsiXOKmGp24LcllZyDWZe_hSa6HAvy-CmJReassLwzF9pNVGeenBXDKnmKm2XJUBtgqdhEFZQwdSeuLxtLNEmgnAJnlls/s320/07082008008.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231906545697369698" border="0" /></a><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy3wiRvnhu2v7OSV4ichmObjyN_mI-q7rfJajKvOHiob-CoHUhQZmvscyCaNxKi4QyMjNw_crw2elMAj1GE0ENlaj3UKQYnuKCPxJJr9IYm0Tdb7bXNil-aHoFybWJREV3Oovy4n1tGolZ/s1600-h/07082008009.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy3wiRvnhu2v7OSV4ichmObjyN_mI-q7rfJajKvOHiob-CoHUhQZmvscyCaNxKi4QyMjNw_crw2elMAj1GE0ENlaj3UKQYnuKCPxJJr9IYm0Tdb7bXNil-aHoFybWJREV3Oovy4n1tGolZ/s320/07082008009.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231907220681171778" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLHAkMaoT9ENS8uj6zoNprAw79ANCggWV31Lrzk01nA5qL5QkLwemArS9LvLUAyR84M9SJAvLmk73z_S6GAyxKqj_f4CXXux_3sAYA0RFbilNXoWppJDvS7QROmZ9k4pYxVDsJ5ElVU4Rz/s1600-h/07082008010.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLHAkMaoT9ENS8uj6zoNprAw79ANCggWV31Lrzk01nA5qL5QkLwemArS9LvLUAyR84M9SJAvLmk73z_S6GAyxKqj_f4CXXux_3sAYA0RFbilNXoWppJDvS7QROmZ9k4pYxVDsJ5ElVU4Rz/s320/07082008010.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231907225916418642" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPK1vzPyDEZllC4om6FvCzm_oDy9eebgylAOoE71PN9T_LRcJJRzA05CwKRVTbHvUHUBS-HuigJeP7yXqN-4FvGfExu7uz3JpPBTf8HPz0of3zUh-Z5mgSthkuFgs5PgfIG_LhzrkmnURf/s1600-h/07082008012.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPK1vzPyDEZllC4om6FvCzm_oDy9eebgylAOoE71PN9T_LRcJJRzA05CwKRVTbHvUHUBS-HuigJeP7yXqN-4FvGfExu7uz3JpPBTf8HPz0of3zUh-Z5mgSthkuFgs5PgfIG_LhzrkmnURf/s320/07082008012.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231907228771846578" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFJiSjrILUig_ngjVd2fmC_vvOw91mDeqfTcjCXOZ7gELW_JTYfib39hJPK-PnsK9m-7FoLoNwuhlVlIYGBqqG87VDZ1APNrvT_Cwr3Qr-Z_v0VoH6hnI41wzOKpoOZIf4gIuWu4RN_Dzm/s1600-h/07082008011.jpg"><img style="cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFJiSjrILUig_ngjVd2fmC_vvOw91mDeqfTcjCXOZ7gELW_JTYfib39hJPK-PnsK9m-7FoLoNwuhlVlIYGBqqG87VDZ1APNrvT_Cwr3Qr-Z_v0VoH6hnI41wzOKpoOZIf4gIuWu4RN_Dzm/s320/07082008011.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5231907222034076418" border="0" /></a><br /><br /></div>Oh one other thing, the model isn't finished yet due to beer and my housemate and I playing some Dawn of War: Soul Storm. Does anyone manage to just buy what they went in for on a trip to GW?<br /><br />Again whilst waiting to pay, it being the school holidays the shop was rather busy, I got talking to one of the guys in the shop and had a good chat on the forth coming Assault on Black Reach box set. This time I had the opportunity of seeing and handling some of the models.<br /><br />The Ork Warboss miniture is awesome (like the hotdogs) and almost the same size as the Dreadnought! I exaggerate only slightly on that, honest.<br />The dreadnought is quite a nice model and I am looking forward to building and painting it. It's armed with a box fist/claw and a multi-melta so should prove to be quite a threat to both infantry and tanks alike.<br />The terminators are of a high quality and very close to their multi-part brethren as are the standard marines, which have a good selection of pre-Heresy and Great Crusade style helmets. It does make me wonder if GW has a Heresy related expansion or rules subset in the works!<br /><br />There will also be a new Space Marine Codex coming out at roughly the same time as the Black Reach box, September is looking to be a good (expensive) month for me! White Dwarf will also be giving away one of the terminators and an ork nob from the Black Reach box with the next issue.<br /><br />Now where did I put that painting with washes article...Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-82759287550640080332008-08-02T22:55:00.003+01:002008-08-06T23:45:24.904+01:00Assault on Black ReachWas working overtime today and when I finished I wandered down to the local GW store, mainly to get the new rules and learn the differences since I last played anything approaching a serious game, 1st edition anyone?<br /><br />As usual for a trip to Games Workshop for me I also bought something else as well as what I went in for, in this case it was a rhino. Whilst waiting to pay (mainly the walk from shelf to till as I was the only non-game-playing customer) I got talking to the manager, general chit chat and stuff about marines. Anyway we got onto the subject of the new Warhammer 40,000 box set: "Assault on Black Reach" and they had a demo box that the guys were painting up and looking over. I mentioned the fact that several people had worries about the quality of the minitures included in the box as they were clip togethers or limited part models. Well he was a bit shocked at this and grabbed a sprue out of the box, it had moslty Orks on it but also a few of the Terminators. I have to say they looked good, but it was when he showed me the Marine Commander model that all the worries and rumours were completely and utter disspelled! It is a fantastic model.<br /><br />The store were taking pre-orders for the box set and I've placed my order. If any of you have been looking for an excuse to get back into the hobby or a cheap way to boast the numbers in your army it is the perfect set for it.Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-14022199413711421302008-07-29T23:44:00.008+01:002008-07-29T23:52:17.714+01:00Dawn Of War - Armour And SupportThis will be the last post from DoW and shows the Terminators, Dreadnought and Armour colour schemes. This post shows off the colour scheme from the game and will act as a rough template for the models paint scheme.<br /><br />This view is of a tactical squad lead by a veteran Sergeant, you can also see a marine armed with a heavy bolter.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiimM-h01Wn_TnsaiTO4IFMXmQbwxziM96A3fOrTQ5KiPQU2knCvXoLV1rAFKVic1XxO8GiYvS5wGmteALyMIlU7W3YiI2XgVjMr61ozSQY2PiY8neYhV9EUoM2Fb-R9VupqJDSUo9OmBwX/s1600-h/DoW_FireEaters_TacticalSquad.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiimM-h01Wn_TnsaiTO4IFMXmQbwxziM96A3fOrTQ5KiPQU2knCvXoLV1rAFKVic1XxO8GiYvS5wGmteALyMIlU7W3YiI2XgVjMr61ozSQY2PiY8neYhV9EUoM2Fb-R9VupqJDSUo9OmBwX/s320/DoW_FireEaters_TacticalSquad.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5228154528949488706" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Click on the picture to view a larger version of it.<br /><br />I am quite pleased with the banner and will probably use it unmodified in my battle force, properly scaled to the models of course.<br /><br />The next image is a of a marine combat squad out fitted in the devastator role. It also gives you a better view of the banner.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7kJ0Wvn7uxV8T0ROKQnULErgRBc88gUD06YQT9UP5cMAEU0TJHPBAhMxCtpIjHheOV0sl778Bbe34vKR2koYKEkwTQqXILzfJRnscjz7TqnRahyphenhyphenUXOVCRNa-v-PtlK0CaidQkUgiwNm_w/s1600-h/DoW_FireEaters_TacticalSquad2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: center; cursor: pointer;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7kJ0Wvn7uxV8T0ROKQnULErgRBc88gUD06YQT9UP5cMAEU0TJHPBAhMxCtpIjHheOV0sl778Bbe34vKR2koYKEkwTQqXILzfJRnscjz7TqnRahyphenhyphenUXOVCRNa-v-PtlK0CaidQkUgiwNm_w/s320/DoW_FireEaters_TacticalSquad2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5228157318242339138" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Again click on the image for a larger version.<br /><br />The next post will show the Terminators from DoW.Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-24241995319688173082008-07-28T07:24:00.003+01:002008-07-28T20:41:33.129+01:00How They Came To BeThe Fire Eaters space marine chapter came into being in the early to mid 90s and were inspired by a Legion of the Damned article that appeared in White Dwarf. Initially the paint scheme was a poor copy of the Legion of the Damned's, but it did progress to using more orange than black and eventually became a bright orange and yellow fire scheme. The original Chapter consisted of 3 tactical squads and a Predator tank, there were no character models and they were later re-enforced with a terminator squad.<br /><br />The Fire Eaters have stayed with me in spirit all of this time and when Relic and THQ released Dawn of War, the Fire Eaters were created in digital form. It is the colour scheme used in that game that is the basis for my new Chapter. I will be posting images from the game and of the first model soon.Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8994577037022443100.post-67851709554277577042008-07-27T23:18:00.004+01:002008-07-28T00:28:00.354+01:00Back To The BlackIt's been a long time coming and I have now run out of excuses to put it off! I am heading back into the Warhammer 40,000 universe after being away from it for a good few years. I got given some a small battle force of Space Marines by my friend last year and I have been building and painting them off and on since then. The real back to black moment was the release of the new rules and my friend Vinci stating that he wanted to get back into it and would I be willing to as well!<br /><br />Now from reading the paragraph above you may be forgiven in thinking that I'm not enthusiastic about all this. Well to set you straight I am very much into Warhammer 40,000 and have been since we first starting playing way back when at school. And to prove it I have created this here blog to track and share my progress in this hobby.<br /><br />For the rest of this blog I'm going to try and keep it to the Fire Eaters Space Marine Chapter and my adventures with them. Hope you enjoy the journey.Vyper76http://www.blogger.com/profile/07909247071609321965noreply@blogger.com1
